INTERMIX sells fur from China, where dog pelts are frequently unlabeled and mixed in with others (2,000,000 dogs & cats die annually in China for the fur trade).

Israel outright bans too-skinny modelsIt’s a confusing world — while the average woman is a size 14 in the United States, that is also the line where plus-sized clothing starts (generally, size 14 and up). But a plus-sized model is usually around a size 8 or so (the woman in the image above, for example is a plus model), while ‘straight-sized’ models are size 0-2.Israel’s new law mandates that models working in Israel prove that they are not malnourished, by producing medical records. (The country will use World Health Organization standards, wherein a body-mass index below 18.5 is indicative of malnutrition.) In addition, any advertisement published for the Israeli market must include a disclosure line if the model was digitally altered to look thinner.”

The Incredible Animals of Frozen Planet

Discovery Channel’s Frozen Planet began airing last weekend on March 18.

In this ultimate portrait of animals in the frozen zones of the Arctic and the Antarctic, we get to see, up close, the animals that live in this habitat like we have never seen them before. The stars of the show are the animals.

The following is a look at some of our favorite images from the series, which you can see every Sunday at 8 e/p (on Discovery) from March 18 until April 15.

let me introduce myself. My name is Janelle, I am from the western state of Idaho. I understand that many don’t really have a lot of faith in our government, and sometimes I feel that way too but the thing is that when people decide to stay clear from it, is when problems happen. By not getting involved you have no justification of your complaints about what is happening in this world. If I have one goal that I want this blog to achieve it is to educate, impower and spark something! It’s not all about politics anymore. We are entering an age where knowledge is complete power, the more you know the farther you get (or who you know…). So take a minute to listen and maybe, just maybe you will learn enough to take a stand.
